Rob’s N-scale D&RGW Tennessee Pass is a wonder to behold. Set in the early ‘70s and housed in the lower portion of his spilt-level home, this railroad includes the main portion of the Rio Grande from Minturn, CO to Pueblo (including both D&RGW/MP & ATSF/BN yards). There is a terrific version of the limestone-mining branch to Monarch, CO, rendered very faithfully. And to top it off, the ATSF railroad’s La Junta, CO, terminal is nicely portrayed.
Car forwarding is accomplished using JMRI Operations Pro software, and includes train-specific switch lists. Operating positions include a Dispatcher, DRGW Pueblo Yardmaster, ATSF Pueblo Yardmaster, numerous road jobs, local turns and switchers, as well as the job of ATSF La Junta Yardmaster/switcher.
Train control is DCC, using radio walk-around Digitrax simplex throttles along with FRS radio communications between train and yard crews and the dispatcher. The railroad is also fully signaled for CTC using DRGW-style signals controlled by the dispatcher.
Scenery is complete across the entire layout with additional detailing planned for the Monarch branch and parts of industrial East Pueblo.
