Rob’s N-scale D&RGW Tennessee Pass is a wonder to behold. Set in the early ‘70s and housed in the lower portion of his spilt-level home, this railroad includes the main portion of the Rio Grande from Minturn, CO to Pueblo. Additionally, he has rendered a terrific version of the mining branch up to Monarch. And to top it off, his father-in-law’s connecting ATSF railroad is represented nicely in the form of its La Junta, CO terminal.
Car forwarding is accomplished through the use of the JMRI OpsPro software, and includes train-specific switch lists. Operating positions include a Dispatcher, DRGW Pueblo Yardmaster, ATSF Pueblo Yardmaster, numerous road jobs, locals and switchers, as well as the role of ATSF La Junta Yardmaster/switcher.
Train control is radio walk-around Digitrax throttles along with radio communications with the yards and dispatcher. The railroad is also fully signaled using DRGW-style signals under CTC control of the dispatcher.
Lastly, the layout now has most of the scenery finished and awaits a final detailing of the Monarch branch and parts of industrial Pueblo.
